LaDainian Tomlinson recieved a phone call from his younger brother this week. He wished L.T. happy birthday and called his brother an “ancient old man.” The explosive running back got a real kick out of that. But some of his critics are saying he is getting old and will not be able to produce the same type of numbers he’s put up in the past. “That’s the one thing that I’m eager to prove, is that doesn’t necessarily go for every player. Turn 30, that doesn’t mean that you can’t play any more,” Tomlinson said Thursday, two days after his birthday. “There are some guys out there that defy the odds, and I’m eager to prove that.” The 2006 NFL MVP started off-season workouts in March and said he feels great. The only difference from past years is that he sees more doctors, including a therapist. The latter was recommended by NFL career rushing leader Emmitt Smith. L.T stated he was just making sure everything was great with his body. The running back said he has been working out every day and hasn’t had a set back. He continued to say he feels great and has no lingering aches and pains from last years injuries (groin pull and bruised toe). The five-time Pro Bowler has 11,760 yards rushing (14th on the NFL list), 126 rushing TDs (2nd all-time), and 141 total TDs (tied in fourth place). L.T. needs 6,596 yards to surpass Smith’s record.
