L.T. Will Still Produce At 30

June 30, 2009

LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for a career-low 1,110 rushing yards last season. Although it was still fourth-best in the AFC, many thought his toe and groin injuries showed signs of aging. L.T. hurt his groin during the last game of the season. The explosive running back was forced out of an overtime playoff victory over the Indianapolis Colts, then sat out the next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That was the first game L.T. missed in his pro career because of an injury. This season, critics are saying L.T. will not produce as much as he did in the past because he is 30. The only change from past seasons is that Tomlinson sees more doctors, including a therapist recommended by Emmitt Smith. “Just kind of making sure my body’s in great shape and making sure I’m as strong as possible,” Tomlinson said of his off-season work. “I haven’t missed any time, worked out every single day. … I haven’t had a setback at all.” The running back continued to say that if he can’t dunk anymore, it’s going downhill. At 5-foot-10, L.T. can still jump high. He needs 6,596 yards to pass Smith for the the NFL rushing record. Smith gained 5,596 yards in six seasons after he hit the big 3-0. So L.T. can still eclipse the record.
