Chargers Give Back

November 26, 2008

Some of the San Diego Chargers took a break from preparing to face the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday to provide for families in need around San Diego. The event was called “Give Thanks with L.T. & Friends.” It is the seventh year for the event, which gives out thousands of turkeys and other holiday trimmings to needy families. LaDainian Tomlinson and his wife Torsha were there along with other Chargers Darren Sproles, Marques Harris, Jacques Cesaire and Matt Wilhelm.

Tomlinson bought all the turkeys, saying, “This is our favorite holiday. It always has been. Growing up, I can just about remember every single Thanksgiving that we’ve had. So for us, this is the perfect holiday to do this.”

The event has been growing ever since it first started, and the numbers have grown to four times what it was the first year. In the financial times facing families across the nation, it is no wonder that so many more are in need. Those needing turkeys stood in line for hours waiting for the event to open, but were treated to not only a Thanksgiving dinner, but also meeting their favorite Chargers.
