Cooper Returns After Suspension

September 30, 2008

On top of a great win last Sunday, the San Diego Chargers have another reason to celebrate.  Inside linebacker Stephen Cooper is back with the team after serving a four game suspension imposed by the NFL.  Cooper was suspended for testing positive for a banned stimulant.  Although he has taken full responsibility for his actions, Cooper also wasn’t intentionally taking a banned substance.  He said, “There’s a lot of stuff that I wasn’t really educated on. I really wasn’t paying attention to what I was taking and I got caught up. They tell you to watch out for what you take, but at the end of the day it’s always up to you and you’ve got to know what you’re doing.”

Cooper says that he is just using water to rejuvenate and staying away from supplements.  While he was gone, Cooper watched two tough losses for the Chargers to the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos.  Charger teammates are looking forward to having Cooper back on the field, and linebacker Shaun Phillips called Cooper an emotional leader.  It is not yet clear whether Cooper will be playing this Sunday when the Chargers face the Miami Dolphins.  Reserve your San Diego Chargers tickets at StubHub.com.
