Silence of Chargers Training Camp Broken

July 1, 2008

The Chargers have had what I’ve come to term a “silent offseason.”  There has been so little activity in the land of the Chargers, I’m frankly shocked that I’ve been able to put up five blogs a week on the team.  However, they say that all good things must come to an end, and I suppose that’s true of everything.  The Chargers quiet, blissful offseason was broken today.  It was not broken by a coaching change or a player getting arrested.  It’s barely a story at all.  In fact, I would categorize this mostly as a sports journalist just being bored.

However, it bears noting that an article has been written addressing the idea that the San Diego Chargers may soon move from their home at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego California.  We all know that the new stadium talks haven’t been as fruitful as anyone would have liked.  And of course if the Chula Vista site falls through, then it’s really back to the drawing board on all this.  But the Spanos family hasn’t even started playing hardball yet.  I think these kinds of stories are more than just a little bit overzealous.  No one wants to see the Chargers leave.  I don’t think it’s really an issue.
